# “Command not found” after installing a tool

**What you see:** You installed Git, Node.js or the GitHub CLI, but your agent says `command not found`.

**Why it happens:** Apps only learn where new tools are when they start. The Claude app was open before you installed the tool.

## How to fix it

1. Quit the Claude app completely (Mac: Cmd + Q; Windows: close it from the taskbar).
2. Open it again and reopen your project.
3. Ask your agent to check the tool's version again.

## Message for your agent

```text
I just installed a tool and you said “command not found”. I've reopened the app: please check `git --version`, `node --version` and `gh --version` again and tell me what's still missing.
```

**How to prevent it:** Reopen the app after every install. It takes ten seconds.
